Cool house, cool mum, crazy kids!

Updated: May 3, 2020

If you're like me, you like a nice decorated house but you also like free kids! When I was pregnant with my second child, we decided to move. We had to buy a lot of new furnitures and everybody warned me not to invest too much as my kids will probably ruin it fast. But I needed my nice interior, so I wasn't going to sacrifice style!

I had to choose between my house and my kids... So I said goodbye to my kids...

Ok, no... I kept them too..

But I've found good tricks! And I'll share them with you :)

The Couch: Fabric sofas are from far the worth good idea! Extremely hard to wash and getting old in an ugly way.

Leather couch are hard to get dirty but when it happens, it's really not easy to get rid of stains (color pens can make you cry).

The best solution is SYNTHETIC. And I will even say synthetic velvet is the most stylish and easy couch to keep clean. You only need a wet sweet sponge to get rid of any stains!

I was really amazed after 2 years how new my couch looks like.

Of course, choose a dark color more than a Kim Kardashians white interior!

For your carpet, a multi colors is of course the best choice but long hair with light colors (like the trendy Berber carpets) can also work! Nylon is the most durable and stain resistant carpet fiber, it's the best choice for homes with pets and children.

Remember that carpets are sound absorbers, which will make your relationship with your neighbor's much sweeter!

For the tables, prefer a glass one (dinner and coffee table). It might look like a lot of work to keep it clean, but actually not that much. 1 minute per day to clean it, and everything can be washable!

Armchairs: My best solution is the rattan armchair with a big pillow on it. Just add a fabric on it like a cool blanket that you can put on your washing machine and you'll be safe.

TIPS

Always choose removable cushions to keep them clean!

To clean you carpet, put soda water on the stains, wait 30 minutes and add baking soda all over your carpet. Once it's dry just vacuum it. All new!

If your kids drew on your wood furniture, rub the stain with a cloth soaked in household alcohol then gently rub with fine grained steel wool.
